When you experience profound holiness
When you witness a Divine light on a human face
When your soul is kindled with sacred passion
When you are overcome by yearning
Desperately homesick
For a place you know exists
But can’t remember.
When you taste the beyond
Glimpse a truer dimension –
There is no going back.
And by necessity
You are stuck between two worlds
Trapped in physicality –
Sometimes gasping for pure air
Sometimes sinking comfortably into this existence.
And because you are both body and soul
Heeding the voice of only one
Will never work
And so you are stretched taut between the holy and mundane
The spiritual and profane
Wondering when you’ll snap
From the pressure.
